Arroyo Vista Housing Office

The Arroyo Vista Housing Office is located at the entrance of the Arroyo Vista community on the corner of California and Arroyo Drive. Students may come here to fill out work orders, ask questions about activities in the community, meet with administrators, look for jobs and pick-up their mail.

Community Center

The Community Center is located adjacent to the Arroyo Vista Housing Office and contains a recreation room and computer lounge on the first floor, and a conference room, and study space on the second floor.

Recreation Room

The Rec Room offers a variety of recreational equipment and services. Programs and events can be held here with reservations. (Reservation forms are available at the Arroyo Vista Housing Office.) Equipment, such as tables, and folding chairs may be reserved at the same time that you complete the reservation form.

Arroyo Vista conference room The Conference Room is a meeting room with a large table that can seat up to 20 people. Residents may reserve this room during normal business hours, depending on availability. Reservations can be made at the Arroyo Vista Housing Office.

Study Hall is a quiet space for individual or group studying available in the conference room Tuesdays and Thursdays 7 pm - 11 pm.

"Ants in Your Plants" Community Garden

Ants in Your Plants Community Garden

Arroyo Vista and the ASUCI Garden Commission have partnered to provide this student-run urban garden space in AV. Through the garden, UCI students will have the opportunity to learn about food systems through volunteer gardening, workshops, and curriculum integration. Volunteers decide what is grown and how the harvest will be used at the end of the season.

Laundry Facilities

There are laundry facilities in each house, located in a room adjacent to the kitchen. All laundry machines operate with credit, debit, or prepaid debit cards.

Kitchens

Each house has a fully equipped kitchen, including refrigerator, stove, oven, sinks, microwave, pantry, and cupboard space. Arroyo Vista residents can also rent micro-refrigerators or bring their own from home. Micro-refrigerators may not be over 4.0 cubic feet. Arroyo Vista reserves the right to remove any unauthorized, problematic or dangerous electrical appliances.

Community Center

The Community Center is filled with recreational and public facilities that cater to the variety of needs and interests of the Campus Village residents. All Campus Village residents have access to the Fitness Room, Basketball and Volleyball Courts, Television Room, Computer Lab, and Atlantis and Pacifica Lounges.

The Atlantis and Pacifica Lounges are multi-purpose rooms that can used for study spaces as well as to hold community-wide programs and special events. The Atlantis Lounge has a large screen TV with DIRECTV® access and a Smartboard and projector with built-in hookups for laptops. The Pacifica Lounge is often used for group studying.

Wellness Center

Campus Village Comuter Lab

The Wellness Center is a place where lifestyle is regularly examined in order to promote and maintain a holistic approach to wellness. With comfortable seating, a demo kitchen, study space, and small stage, this space accommodates a variety of group functions focused on wellness, such as yoga classes, study skills workshops, relaxation techniques, and programs focused on art appreciation, sexual health, and healthy cooking. The use of the Wellness Center is not only limited to Campus Village residents, but can also be utilized by campus organizations and partners to develop partnerships and create cross-collaborations. To reserve the Wellness Center, please fill out a request form and submit it the Campus Village Housing Office.

In addition to Atlantis and Pacifica Lounge, Campus Village has two 24-hour study lounges located in our community that contain individual study desks, whiteboards, and bathrooms.

Mesa Court Housing Office

The Mesa Court Housing Office is where you can find professional staff offices and a wealth of information on the Mesa Court community and UC Irvine campus resources. Our front desk staff can assist you with key-related issues (eg. lock-outs) and other information and service needs.

Community Center (CC)

The Community Center provides facilities for studying and computing and serves as a venue for community programs and workshops, Freshman Seminars, and University Studies classes. Printing services are available through WEPA printing.

Cyber Lounge

Mesa Court Cyber Lounge The Cyber Lounge is located on the first floor of the CC and is equipped with computers and a variety of comfortable seating. Software available includes Word, Excel, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Software programs for selected majors are also installed.

In addition to computer stations there are private study cubicles and laptop stations with nearby outlets for easy charging.

We encourage residents to suggest new software and hardware recommendations to keep our lab responsive to students’ changing needs.

Study Space

The Community Center offers several different group or individual study options:

FIRST FLOOR: Near the front desk there is a private study room, with a whiteboard, great for small groups, and in the Cyber Lounge there are individual study cubicles. There are also 3 rooms that may be divided for group study.

SECOND FLOOR: Multi-purpose room which is used for programming, hall banquets, and large-scale meetings. This space is used for free study during finals week. 

The Court Study Pavilion

The Court offers 1 large study area, 1 large quiet study area, and 2 reservable private study rooms (maximum 6 people) along with one open study room with wifi and printing services available through WEPA printing.

Mail Services

Mail and packages are delivered and distributed daily, except on holidays. You can leave outgoing mail in outgoing mail slots. When residents leave Mesa Court, residents must complete an online mail forwarding form to get all first-class mail (forwarded for 30 days after move out). All other mail/packages will be returned to sender.

Recreation/Fitness

The fitness area comes equipped with cardio and strength training machines, free weights and more. The Recreation Center is equipped with ping pong tables, a pool table, TV and gaming systems, and rentals for DVD movies. Your RA may reserve intramural sports equipment for your hall as well.

Group Study Space - Conejo

Conejo is a large classroom located in Playa and available during finals weeks; a quiet study space with a projector; 2 reservable study rooms (max 6 people); large white boards and wifi connections available.

Kitchens

Although meal plans are included in the residence hall housing contract, a small kitchen is located in every hall and tower for preparing late-night snacks or other treats. The kitchen is furnished with a stove, oven, full-size refrigerator, and microwave. RA's may reserve baking kits from the Community Center. Anyone using kitchen facilities are expected to clean up after themselves.

Brandywine Student Center

Middle Earth has a student center that is filled with recreational facilities that meet a wide variety of interests. Check out the options listed below, and watch for workshops, tournaments, contests, and special events held throughout the year in Middle Earth.

The Brandywine Student Center also contains the mailboxes for the Hobbiton, Misty Mountain, Isengard, The Shire, Mirkwood, and Lorien residence halls. Also, the offices for Middle Earth Student Staff and the Government of Undergraduate Student Housing are in the Brandywine Student Center.

These facilities are only available for use to current Middle Earth residents.

Media Room

The Media Room is a part of the Game Room that includes a big-screen TV that is available for residents to use.

The Media Room is also equipped with a Nintendo Wii video game system that is only available for Middle Earth residents to use.

Music Room

Middle Earth Music RoomThe music room is located right next to the Brandywine Commons. It's available for Middle Earth residents to enjoy personal space to use as a musical outlet. The music room is available during operation hours of the Brandywine Student Center. Instruments include:

Study Lounges

Middle Earth contains large study lounges for residents to use. In addition to the study areas in each residence hall, there are two study areas in the community that are open only to Middle Earth residents.

Arkenstone Study Lounge Arkenstone is a 24/7 study and academic resource center. There are a number of academic support services offered here for students such as academic advising and peer tutoring in writing and library research. Also, there are computers installed there for quick use.

Bucklebury Study Lounge Bucklebury is one of our 24/7 study spaces and multipurpose space. Often times, programs for students take place here. For instance, we offer programs that promote student-faculty interactions, so it is common to see faculty here at night for different programs.

Gandalf's Classroom

Middle Earth Laundry Room Located across from Pippin dining commons, next to Arkenstone study lounge, this SMART classroom is home for many of Middle Earth's programs, held by the community's student staff. There are also quarterly classes hosted for Middle Earth Residents here – one aspect of how the academic mission extends into the living environment. This space is not currently available for outside use.

Community Rooms

PV residents may reserve (free of charge) the Palo Verde Community Room, Lounge/Conference Room, and the Clubhouse for meetings, events, and social gatherings. Contact the Palo Verde Housing Office for details and Reservation Forms.

Programs that focus on the principles of community and highlight the diversity of the community are also available to the residents at these locations throughout the year. The schedule and content of these activities are announced frequently via newsletter, email, and posting in community spaces.

Computer Lab

Palo Verde Computer LabThe Computer Lab contains five PC computers and a printer, provided and maintained by PVRC. They are available to residents free of charge (must bring your own paper). The Computer Lab is open to residents with apartment keys 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is located below the PV Office, on the first level.

The Rachel Carson Organic Garden Cooperative

Organic GardenThe Rachel Carson Organic Garden Cooperative is open all year to PV residents for planting and growing vegetables, flowers, herbs, trees, and other plants. The garden is located behind the 8200 building, and contains plots that can be used for organic gardening (NO pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or herbicides). Residents interested in acquiring a plot, or information about electronic waitlist procedures, may contact the Garden President.

Playground/Playgroup

Palo Verde offers a playground, located off of Palo Verde Road, as well as a weekly playgroup. Children should always have adult supervision on the playground to ensure safe and proper use of playground and equipment, to help prevent injury. For safety reasons, we ask that children play only in the areas provided with playground equipment.

The Palo Verde Playgroup meets on Thursdays, from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. in The PV Community Room.

Community Barbecues and Picnic Tables

Cyber Café

The Verano Cyber Cafe is located near the Old Recreation Center and is open to the community. The Cafe offers the following convenient office services: computers, printer/ copy machine and fax. Additional conveniences include: snacks, cold drinks, ice cream and coffee for purchase, free DVD rental, lending library, dolly reservation and check out, jumper cables and bike pump for lend. The cost to print is 10¢ per page. Children under 18 must be with an adult to use the computers. To reserve a dolly or reach café staff call (949) 824-7981.

Community Rooms

All residents have access to two community centers, each of which can accommodate up to 100 people. Both of these facilities have kitchens, tables, and chairs for your use. Reservations are taken at the Verano Housing Office. The two locations are:

Childcare Programs

Verano Housing offers 2 school age childcare programs as well as a weekly playgroup. For information on other childcare options please see the Campus Resources and Community Resources pages.

After-School Program

This program offers a safe and stimulating environment for children in grades k – 6th. Verano residents receive a reduced rate. Regular activities include quiet time for homework, arts, crafts, sports, and healthy snacks. The program is open from mid-September through mid-June, Monday – Friday, 2 – 5:30 p.m. and meets in the Old Recreation Center. Registration is required and enrollment is limited. Playgroup

Parents/Caregivers and their children aged birth to five years old are invited to participate in our free weekly playgroup. The Playgroup meets at the Verano Commons, in back of the Verano Housing Office. A playgroup coordinator initiates conversation and activities with the expectation that parents/caregivers will get involved and join in the fun. There is no charge or registration, just a desire to meet other parents in Verano and have a positive experience with your child. This is not a drop off program.

Verano Summer Program

This fun summer program for children ages five through twelve years old is offered from the end of June through the end of August, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Activities include fieldtrips, sports, arts and crafts, and swimming lessons (limited dates). Verano Community Organic Garden

The Verano Garden is an organic garden that exists to provide an opportunity for Verano Place residents to garden a communal setting. It is a place to work the earth alongside fellow residents you might not otherwise meet, and to share gardening knowledge. It is also an opportunity to increase sustainability by growing food locally, and recycle garden green waste and community kitchen waste. Eligibility is limited to Verano Place residents, with only one plot per housing contract. Plots are assigned by the Verano Garden Council. Play Areas

Play Areas: Playgrounds for children are located throughout the community. In addition, there are several large grassy areas ideal for outdoor play. A half-size basketball court is located outside the Commons Community Center.
