Campus Village Mission, Vision & Values
Campus Village Housing student and professional staff do our best to uphold the Campus Village Mission Statement and Vision Statement (PDF) as we provide excellent service to the residents of our community.
Campus Village Principles of Community

The UCI community includes student, faculty and staff members from a rich diversity of backgrounds and experiences. As a community engaged in education, we encourage free expression of social, religious and political beliefs as part of the learning process. Through academics, extra-curricular activities, and in our everyday interactions with one another, we strive to foster an atmosphere of positive engagement and mutual respect. We celebrate both the uniqueness and diversity of the individuals who make up this community as well as the value of our shared experiences here at UC Irvine.

As a community, we stand against any form of discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic status, nationality, age, gender, physical ability or sexual orientation. It is our hope that each and every member of the UCI community benefits from their experience here and comes to feel like a valued member of this university community. To that end, everyone who chooses to live in, work in, or visit our residential communities must understand that we will not tolerate any form of bigotry, harassment, intimidation, threat, or abuse, whether verbal or written, physical or psychological, direct or implied. Alcohol or substance abuse, ignorance, or humorous intent will not be accepted as an excuse. We will respond to such behavior in a manner consistent with our educational mission and our policies for behavior on campus and in housing.
Our residential communities are dynamic environments that are designed to enable all individuals to reach their full potential. Only by understanding, supporting, and celebrating our diversity can we create an environment where individuality, creativity, and community will thrive.

Campus Village Community Services

Telephone

In order to provide the highest quality service, and to minimize issues with telephone orders, residents may not activate telephone service prior to moving in. Residents may choose to share a phone line that rings throughtout the apartment and/or install separate telephone lines in each of the bedrooms and in the living room. Please go to http://www.housing.uci.edu/telephone/ for more information.

Internet

Every apartment in Campus Village is equipped with Internet ports for high-speed Internet access. UCI’s residential network provides residents with the ability to travel the Internet at speeds equivalent to the on-campus computer labs. You will need the following to properly access the ethernet.

         1. At least a Pentium III Compatible computer or a Mac

         2. An Ethernet card,

         3. A RJ-45 cable

Make sure you have all updates and a good anti-virus program! The residential network consultants will be available when you move in to assist you in configuring your computer. Additional information is available in this guide, or you can visit the residential network (ResNet) website at http://resnet.uci.edu, or you may contact the residential network consultants at resnet@uci.edu, or call (949) 824-6375.

Cable Televsion

Each apartment has three locations for cable TV service, one in each bedroom and one in the living room. The coaxial connection for cable TV is located at the bottom of each of the Telephone/Internet boxes. If you are having problems with your Cable TV service please visit the ResNet website http://resnet.uci.edu/cabletv/ for some solutions to your problems before contacting ResNet at (949) 824-6375 or by email at resnet@uci.edu.

Mail & Packages

Your apartment's mailbox is located at the bank of mailboxes across from the Campus Village Housing Office. Please review the guide for more information regarding receiving packages.

Community Center & Other Amenities

Residents have access to several amenities in the community such as the Community Center, which includes the computer lab, fitness room, game room, study rooms and laundry rooms. The guide provides specific hours and detailed information about these amenities.

Apartment Condition Reports

An Apartment Condition Report has been completed by your Resident Advisor (RA), and will be in your apartment upon your move-in. It is very important that you and your roommates complete the “Residents Check-In Condition” column on this form to protect yourselves from being billed for pre-existing damages.  Please note the following:

  • When you arrive in your apartment, please take a few minutes with your roommates to document the condition of your entire apartment.
  • Note all damages you find in the apartment—include any items you could be billed for such as stains in the carpet, marks or holes in the walls, stains and damage to the furniture, stickers on walls and ceilings, and the configuration of the furniture (oak loft furniture should be lofted).
  • Once you and your roommates have completed and signed the Apartment Condition Report, please return it to the Campus Village Housing Office by October 7, 2011.

The condition of the apartment when you move out is compared to the items you list on the form now to determine what, if any, damages occurred while you were living there. Residents who do not return the reports by the deadline will be assessed damage charges based on the assumption that everything in the apartment is in "acceptable condition" at the time of move-in.

Disaster Prep & Fire Safety

The safety and security of our residents is Campus Village's top priority. However, this is not something our staff can do alone. Here are some important information regarding the Housing Fire Drill Process (PDF). The guide includes the Campus Village Fire Alarm Protocol and also the Disaster Preparation and Supply List to help you start thinking about the resources you will need in the case of an emergency.

Apartment Safety

Campus Village is committed to providing a living space where residents can call home. In order to maintain that level of safety that we pride ourselves with, we cannot do it without the active participation of our residents. Please familiarize yourself with the following important notifications and policies in the guide.
