If you would like to submit your own article for the GUSH magazine, here are some suggestions and ideas to keep in mind:
- When writing an article, think about being accompanying your piece with a photograph or piece of art to embellish your work--it helps with aesthetic.
- All persons related to UCI are encouraged to write for this magazine. Remember, however, that the magazine's main audience are residents.
- Ideas for topics may include (but are not limited to): Housing events/activities, community service programs, on-campus programs, campus news, food recipes, crafts, photography, artwork, creative writing, and more.
- Use your best discretion when writing a piece--this means for writers and artists to be respectful and cogniscent of an all-inclusive community.
- You can thank volunteers and even summarize a past event.
- You may submit no more than 3 photos. If you have more, select your top choices.
- When including photographs or artwork, please also include captions that describe the piece or the place or people in the photograph .
- For the Student or Staff Spotlight: Please submit name, community, position, and contribution to the community or department. Photo is optional, but encouraged.
- For Community Updates: Community Council members, please submit any past, present, or future events here. If you do not submit any updates, updates will be taken from CB meeting minutes.
Please submit your articles to Adrian (ortizam@uci.edu) by the specified deadlines or if you have any questions. Newsletter updates will be made during the Coordinating Board meetings.
GUSH Newsletter (2009-10)
"What the GUSH?" is GUSH's newsletter, which was created to update residents and communities about the projects and events occurring within GUSH. GUSH gathers articles from the four undergraduate housing communities and staff members so that the newsletter not only includes updates from GUSH, but also from the four undergraduate housing communities and Housing Administrative Services. The purpose of this newsletter is to connect the four undergraduate housing communities, showcasing the progress and events in advocacy projects and programs.
