PACURH
Pacific Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls
Every year, colleges and universities from all over the pacific region of the United States come together and meet for this exciting conference to show their school spirit and share different programming skills and ideas. This conference is dedicated to helping student leaders improve the residential experience in the housing communities.
This year PACURH was held at Western Washington University, in Bellingham, Washington on November 13th-15th, 2009.
Many programs were offered to our delegates, ranging from educational (diversity, social justice, community service, sustainability) to social programs. Another component of this conference was SPIRIT. Each delegation dressed up in costumes in congruence to the theme of the conference, which was “Top Secret: Secrets to Leadership.” Our delegation represented UCI through our loud cheers, networking with other delegations, participating in the philanthropy project and presence at the moment. The UCI delegation also worked with Humboldt State University to do a 5-minute skit embodying the theme of the conference, while showing off spirit.
One of our delegates created the entire dance routine that was used in our roll call and collaborated with a representative from Humboldt for the rest of the skit. Our roll call incorporated scenes from “Slumdog Millionaire” as well as the Jai Ho Dance. Overall the UCI delegation learned many new things that they will bring back to our campus and implement here at UCI!
