How-To: RMS continually prompt for login
Problem:
When logging into RMS, you are simply returned to the login window instead of receiving a new window with the typical navigation. If you sign on a second time, it will return to the login screen, but say that you were already logged in.
Resolution:
RMS opens a new browser window once you log-in. This new window is recognized by most security programs as a Pop-Up and is blocked as such. Internet Explorer's (IE) built in Pop-up blocker will block RMS. This document will help you resolve the IE related issue, however, if you have other toolbars installed with pop-up blocking features, those applications will need to be configured.
- Open Internet Explorer.
- On the menu bar, locate and click on the Tools menu item.
- Select "Pop-up Blocker" in the drop down list.
- Select "Pop-up Blocker Settings... " in the drop down list.
- Check to see if *.housing.uci.edu appears in the Allowed Sites list. If it does exist and you are experiencing the problems listed in the problem definition above, your issue is being created by another pop-up blocking application.
- In the "Address of Web site to allow:" input area, enter *.housing.uci.edu
then click on "Add"
- Click on Close to close the settings window.
- Close all open browser windows.
- Open Internet Explorer and browse to the RMS Login screen. Attempt to login. A new windows should open after authenticating, if not, you have another application blocking pop-ups.
