How-To: Contribute - unable to logon

Problem:

You are attempting to login to Contribute and know you are using the correct username and password, but continue to be prompted for login.   For some users, this problem only appears when using Remote Desktop.

Issue:

The release of Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7.0 created some issues with Macromedia's (now Adobe) Contribute editing software.  There is a dynamic library that is installed with Contribute that appears to be updated by some Adobe updates.

Resolution:

 

1. Close any instance of Contribute that you may have open.  To do so, on the Contribute window either click File, then Close or click on the X in the upper right corner of the window.
   
2. Click on your desktop START button, then select Run...
   
3. Type C: and press your [Enter] key.
   
4. Double-click on Program Files.
   
5. Double-click on Macromedia.
   
6. Double-click on Contribute 3.
   
7. Locate the file called PSAPI.dll and right-click on it.  Select Rename.
   
8. Change the name to PSAPI-old.dll or PSAPI-old1.dll or some variation.
   
9. Close all the windows generated by the actions taken above. 
   
10. Open the Contribute editor program.
