Frequently Asked Questions – Continuing Student Process

Continuing Student Guarantee FAQs

If I’m guaranteed housing, why should I select multiple preferences in the ACC application?

Demand for popular floor plans (e.g., ACC studios and lowest cost floor plans) always exceeds supply. Therefore, students are encouraged to select up to six floor plan preferences they find acceptable in the event their most desired preference is no longer available.  If none of your preferred occupancy preferences are available, you will be offered something from remaining available spaces. Keep in mind that you will receive just ONE guaranteed housing offer.  If you decline the offer, you forfeit your housing guarantee. You would and will need to submit a waitlist application if you are still interested in on-campus housing.

If I only want the ACC apartments, do I need to submit a Continuing Student Housing Application or can I skip to “step 2” and apply directly to ACC?

To receive a guaranteed housing offer, students must complete all steps as instructed. Regardless if you prefer to live in one of the ACC apartments or the UCI Housing communities, students must submit a Continuing Student Housing Application that is only available on the Housing Gateway.

Why aren't the Residence Halls included as a housing option?

Due to the expected number of incoming freshmen for fall 2024, the Residence Halls will not be offered as part of the CSP Guaranteed Housing application. If updates on expected enrollment allow, Residence Halls may be included as an option on the Housing Waitlist Application, which will open in April, 2024.

Continuing Student Waitlist FAQs

If I’m not eligible for the Guarantee, what are my chances of receiving a housing offer?

Your chances of receiving an offer from the housing waitlist will depend in part on the number of spaces left after guarantee placements are completed. You can increase your chances of receiving an offer if you do the following:

  • Apply as soon as the waitlist opens (in April)
  • If applying to ACC, select a variety of floor plan options. The applications allows for up to six floor plan preferences.

If you do not receive a housing offer by mid-June, you should explore off campus housing options.

Can I apply to both waitlists (ACC and UCI Housing)?

Yes. The Residence Halls, Arroyo Vista, and Las Lomas Apartments will be on the UCI housing waitlist application, and all ACC properties will be on the ACC application.

General Continuing Student FAQs

Are meal plans required while living on campus?

Students holding a contract for the Residence Halls (Mesa Court and Middle Earth) are required to have a meal plan in accordance to the terms of the contract. Voluntary (or “Anteater”) meal plans are available through UCI Dining for students not living in the Residence Halls, but are not required.

How will my financial aid be impacted if I live off-campus vs. on-campus?

For any questions regarding Financial Aid, we recommend you schedule an appointment with the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

I currently live on-campus and like where I’m living, can I renew my contract/lease?

There are no renewals for the Residence Halls, Arroyo Vista, or Las Lomas contracts. If you would like to apply to either of these communities, you must submit a new housing application.

ACC will send current residents information regarding lease renewals in January.

If I receive a housing offer that isn’t for my preferred community/floor plan choice, can I accept it and cancel it later?

If you receive a housing offer, we recommend that you read and understand the terms of the contract/lease and the process of canceling BEFORE you sign.

When and where can I submit occupancy preferences (theme, room type, roommate, etc.)?

For UCI housing communities, occupancy preferences are submitted during the contract process. For ACC communities, roommate preferences are submitted after you complete your lease. There is no guarantee that preferences will be accommodated.
