Grad Parking for 2023-24

UCI Transportation and Distribution Services uses License Plate Recognition for the enforcement of resident parking in Graduate and Family Housing. Residents are responsible for managing their parking privileges, confirming that permissions are provided, and entering their license plate into the online parking system.

Parking permissions are provided only for vehicles that are registered to the contract holder, to the parent of contract holder and/or other car owners listed on the contract holder’s housing agreement.

Single student contract holders are provided with parking permissions for a maximum of one vehicle, and residents in a family/full designated apartment may be provided a maximum of two parking permissions per apartment. Motorcycles count as vehicles and must be registered and park in designated motorcycles stalls.

Please note: Your parking permission is valid only in your housing community. It is not valid for use in other communities, on campus, or at the Medical Center.

Palo Verde and Verano Place residents use the Virtual Permit Management System (VPMS) to set up parking privileges. Follow the steps outlined below to obtain access to the VPMS system.

Due to its location in the campus core, Campus Village residents must set up their parking privileges in the MyCommute system.

Account Activation

SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

Step 1A Parking Policies Application is provided with your housing offer. Complete the application, leaving the “For Office Use Only” spaces blank, and submit it to your community housing office by email or in person during normal business hours.

SHOW DMV RECORDS TO YOUR HOUSING OFFICE

Step 2Bring CURRENT Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) registration for each vehicle listed on the application to your community housing office. Do not email registration documents. If you are in the process of renewing your vehicle registration and have yet to receive registration paperwork from the DMV, you will need to use your visitor hours until the paperwork arrives.

ACCESS THE ONLINE PARKING SYSTEM

Step 3Once your application is approved, you will receive an email from Transportation & Distribution Services with a link to the parking registration system. Palo Verde and Verano residents will receive a link to the Virtual Permit Management System (VPMS). Campus Village residents will receive a link to the MyCommute permit system. Campus Village residents will receive a link to the MyCommute permit system.

LOG IN AND COMPLETE ACTIVATION

Step 4Use the link provided in the Transportation & Distribution Services email to log into the parking system. Read and accept the terms and conditions to activate your account, then add your license plate(s) information to activate your parking privileges.

Updates / Expiration

If vehicle information changes during your residency, repeat steps 2-4 above. Resident parking permissions will continue if your housing agreement is renewed from year to year, but will expire day that your housing agreement ends.

Visitor Parking

Palo Verde and Verano Place residents receive 432 hours of visitor permissions per quarter (equivalent to 18 days). To activate visitor permissions, log in to your account and add the license plate of each visitor’s vehicle and the number of hours of the intended visit. Visitors may only park in designated “Visitor” spaces. If you exhaust your hours before the quarter is over, you will not be given any additional hours. Commuter, monthly and/or evening visitor permits may be purchased from Transportation & Distribution Services.

Campus Village, as a part of the campus core, does not provide visitor parking. Guests may purchase daily parking permits at parking dispensers located around campus and at parking garage entrances. Check guest permit rules upon parking; guests may not park in Campus Village lots.

Event Parking

Due to space limitations, there is no parking set aside for events in Graduate and Family Housing. Short-term parking may be purchased through T&DS for lots 17A, The ARC, and the Anteater Parking structure.
