Verano Place Mail Related FAQs
How do the Parcel Lockers work?
The shipping carrier drops off your package inside a parcel locker. Once the package is delivered into a locker, you will receive an email notification from hsgdonotreply@housing.hsg.uci.edu with a pickup code to collect your package. The email will say pickup location as “Community Center Lockers #”.
There are 6 locker kiosks. The bank of lockers are located in two different areas. The first bank is located behind the community center, the second bank is next to the dog park. The lockers are labeled so you know which kiosk to scan your code at. When you arrive at the lockers, type your code or scan the barcode from your confirmation email on the touchscreen computer to retrieve your package.
How much time do I have to retrieve packages?
Residents have 5 days to retrieve a package from the parcel locker or the Mail Room. All packages will be returned to the carrier after 5 days. Please collect your package before the expiration date.
When are carriers able to use parcel pending?
All shipping carriers have access to parcel lockers for delivery 7 days a week, even when the Verano Community Center is closed.
Packages from all carriers will be placed in the parcel lockers unless:
- The package is oversized
- The resident is not yet added to the parcel pending system (eg. If the resident has just moved in)
Which carriers use parcel pending?
All shipping carriers have access to parcel lockers.
I received confirmation that my package was delivered by the carrier, but I did not receive an email with a code to retrieve it from the parcel lockers.
- Ensure you have checked your junk email
- Ensure the package is not in the mailroom (e.g. Oversized packages or packages for new residents)
- If the above steps have been completed and the package is not located, please fill out the missing package form.
NOTE: Please allow up to one week to receive a response after you have filled out the missing package form.
Can my partner also pick up packages inside the parcel locker if they are a resident?
Yes, all Verano residents who are listed on the contract can expect to have packages delivered inside the parcel locker.
Who do I contact if the parcel lockers are out of order?
Please contact the Verano Community Center front desk for assistance in person or call 949-824-1860 during community center hours of operation or send a detailed email to gfhv8mailroom@uci.edu.
How do I get my mail forwarded to a new address when I move out?
Please fill out the Verano Towers Move Outs/Change of Address Form. This will ensure that any USPS flat mail or packages will be forwarded to your new address.
NOTE: Packages from all other carriers cannot be forwarded and will be returned to the sender.
Can a delegate be sent to retrieve a package in the case that I am unable to go myself?
- For packages located in the Mail Room, we will need permission for the delegate to pick up packages on your behalf. If you would like someone else to pick up your mail for you, please email gfhv8mailroom@uci.edu a dated, hand signed (real signature) note stating that full, legal name on the person’s ID, can pick up your mail on __ date(s) for your full legal name and mailing address. The note must have your printed and hand signed name. You can type it, print it, and hand sign it or hand write the whole thing. Delegates will be required to have a photo ID with them when they come to retrieve your package.
- For packages in the parcel lockers, simply share your emailed pickup code with your delegate and they can retrieve the package on your behalf.
What should I do if I receive mail that is not mine?
If you receive flat mail or a package that is not addressed to you in error, please return the mail to the Verano Towers Mail Room. Please DO NOT open the mail.
My roommate keeps receiving email notifications for my packages. How can I ensure that I receive notifications for my packages?
Please contact the Verano Community Center front desk for assistance in person or call 949-824-1860 during community center hours of operation or email gfhv8mailroom@uci.edu.
